Most of us have come to believe that when things work out in our favour or if something comes easy, then it’s meant to be. When something proves to be hard or challenging we then start to believe it is not meant to be. We believe this in the work we do, the friendships we have and in romantic relationships. But is it even true that when it’s hard then it is wrong?
That is not always the case, my favourite definition of hard is “something that is not easily broken”. Relationships can be tough, communication doesn’t always come easy, jobs can be hard sometimes and businesses can be slow to grow. A lot of situations in life will look like there’s no way out, until you master them and they become easier or you become stronger and better equipped to handle them. If you don’t stick through it to put in the work then you miss out on the journey of growth and witnessing that hard thing become easier. So, when something is hard it doesn’t always prove that it is the wrong thing for you. How can we tell if something is wrong for us?
- Thinking of all the possibilities does not bring you joy
- You have tried and invested time and still you seem to end up in the same place
- It is harmful to your mental, physical or emotional health
- You are not at peace about the situation, person, job or relationship.
Always remember that evaluating something as right or wrong, hard or easy can be largely dependent on your perception. Sometimes stepping away from the situation, consulting someone you trust for advice or doing some research on the thing you are struggling with can change your perspective and give you new ideas on how to tackle different issues you face in life. Don’t give up when things start to get tough. Just because it’s hard doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not for you. You will one day look back at your journey and see the lessons and growth that came from the hardships. Sometimes we go through those trying times to help us grow in the qualities and characteristics we need in order to handle the success on the other side. If it is worth it, give it your all and I think it’s human nature to value things that we have worked hard for. Sometimes that hard situation is exactly what you need to go through in your life journey and soon enough you will reach a breakthrough that will catapult you to the other side of the hardships. Focus on your lane and keep pushing, one day at a time.
